Vada Bhaat is a spicy Maharashtrian rice recipe where dal vadas (pakoras) are fried, then mixed with rice and topped with spicy tadka. Ingredients: Boiled Rice (quantity as required) For Vada 1/4th Cup Chana Dal 2 tbsp Matki (Moth Beans) 2 tbsp Moong Dal 2 tbsp Masoor Dal 2 tbsp Urad Dal 2 tbsp Tur Dal 1 tsp Cumin Seeds Salt 2-3 Green Chillies 2 tbsp Ginger Garlic crush Coriander leaves Oil for frying For Tadka 4-5 tbsp Oil 1 tbsp Mustard Seeds 1/4th tsp Asafoetida 4-5 Dry Red Chillies 1/2 tsp Turmeric Powder Method: To make the Dal Vada - First soak the chana dal, matki, moong dal, masoor dal, urad dal & tur dal in water for 4-5 hours. - In a mixer grinder add the soaked dal, ginger garlic crush, cumin seeds, salt, green chillies and coriander leaves. Grind everything to a coarse paste. - Pour the mixture in a bowl. Take small portions of the mixture and put them in the hot oil for frying. - Fry the Vadas till golden brown. To make the tadka - In a pan heat some oil. - Add mustard seeds, asafoetida, dry red chillies and turmeric powder. Mix well. - On a serving plate pour some cooked rice. - Put the tadka on the rice. Crush some dal vadas on the rice. - Mix everything. - Nagpuri Vade Bhaat is ready to be served.
