The resignations come as students, who forced Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to flee the country, widened their demands to target more officials appointed during her regime.Hassan's resignation was confirmed by a law ministry official, who spoke on condition of anonymity. The chief justice faced "dire consequences" if he didn't resign, students had warned. Additionally, five judges have also stepped down, according to local media reports.The students had called for a siege of the high court and demanded Hassan's resignation, questioning his decision to convene a full court meeting without consulting the government. They vowed not to tolerate any "conspiracy of the defeated forces."Meanwhile, Talukder's resignation has not been accepted due to the critical nature of his position, said finance ministry adviser Salehuddin Ahmed.
