Tour d'Italie 2022 - Valerio Piva after the historical win of Biniam Girmay : "It's wonderful for Binima Girmay, for us the team, for Africa and cycling"

Après avoir offert sa première Classique à l'Afrique noire en remportant Gand-Wevelgem à la fin du mois de mars, Biniam Girmay (Intermarché-Wanty-Gobert Matériaux) a fait de même ce mardi sur une étape d'un Grand Tour ! À Jesi, l'Érythréen a gagné la 10e étape du Tour d'Italie en réglant au sprint un groupe d'une trentaine de coureurs. Sorti vainqueur d'un magnifique duel avec Mathieu van der Poel (Alpecin-Fenix), Girmay a devancé le Néerlandais et l'Italien Vincenzo Albanese (EOLO-Kometa). Wilco Kelderman (BORA-hansgrohe) et Richard Carapaz (INEOS Grenadiers) ont complété le top 5, tandis que Romain Bardet (Team DSM) a pris la septième place. Tous les leaders ayant terminé dans le premier groupe, le classement général ne bouge pas et Juan Pedro Lopez (Trek-Segafredo) sera donc toujours en rose mercredi.
