However, after Virat Kohli's announcement, former Team India captain Sunil Gavaskar urged the BCCI to prepare KL Rahul as the next captain. The former captain told that after Kohli stepped down from the captaincy, the BCCI should prepare KL Rahul as the Indian captain in the future.
