Why 12 ministers quit ahead of Modi cabinet rejig?

In his second term, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expanded the cabinet for the first time. The special thing about the new cabinet is that many new faces have got a chance that too on cabinet ministers' posts. Although the ministry has been snatched from many existing ministers, the charge of many ministers has been changed, as Prime Minister Narendra Modi goes for an overhaul in his government ahead of crucial elections to five states.
