Weekend lockdown imposed in UP, night curfew in districts with over 500 active cases

The Uttar Pradesh government on Tuesday announced a statewide weekend lockdown to curb the rising number of Covid-19 cases in the state. The weekend lockdown will come into force from April 24. As per the new directive, districts with more than 500 active Covid-19 cases will also remain under night curfew, effective between 8 PM to 7 AM every day, until further orders. In his order to a special Covid-19 task force, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said, "Every citizen must contribute to make Corona curfew a success. As far as necessary, do not go out of the house. Celebrate festivals at home. If you go out, then wear a mask. There must be no crowds at public places. It should be strictly implemented."
