U.S., Chile discuss co-hosting APEC summit in U.S. in January: Source

After scrapping a highly-anticipated summit of world leaders last week as the country struggles with anti-government protests, Chile is now reportedly in discussions with the U.S. about co-hosting the APEC summit in the United States in January.Reuters reports that U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo has been telling other diplomats that the U.S. was thinking of hosting the summit.Chile cancelled the APEC summit that was originally scheduled for mid-November because of the violent protests.If it can't be re-arranged, Malaysia is set to host the next APEC summit, scheduled for the end of 2020.
