President Moon pays tribute to Korea's independence fighters ahead of 100th anniversary of March 1st Independence Movement

문 대통령 독립운동가 묘역 참배This Friday will be the 100th anniversary of the March 1st Independence Movement... in which Koreans demanded liberation from Japanese imperial rule.President Moon Jae-in, this morning, paid tribute to those independence fighters.He visited the cemetery where Korea buried the founding members of its provisional government which was set up in April 1919 in Shanghai.That cemetary is in Hyochang Park in Seoul.The tribute to those independence fighters represents President Moon's recognition of the provisional government as the direct predecessor of the present-day Republic of Korea.That's in contrast to earlier administrations whose view was that the Republic of Korea began with the nation's liberation much later in 1945.
