Bollywood, despite having come a long way since its inception some 100 years back, is still a largely male-led industry. While earlier most of the women characters were put in the film to just add a glam factor or for a romantic angle with the hero, women characters now have emerged stronger. But going by the box-office numbers, the collection of a Bollywood film led by any Khan is nowhere close to what women-led films have grossed. While actresses like Vidya Balan, Kangana Ranaut and Alia Bhatt has carved a niche for themselves, we still hope for better days.
