Top diplomats of U.S. and China discuss North Korea in Washington

"Discussed our firm commitment to maintain pressure on North Korea and to continue fully enforcing all relevant U.N. Security Council resolutions related to North Korea until we see and achieve the complete verifiable and irreversible denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula."But Wang said,... that although China is fully committed to North Korea's denuclearization, both Washington and Beijing must take into account security guarantees for the regime. "We believe that in achieving the process or the goal of denuclearization,... it's necessary to address the legitimate security concerns of North Korea at an appropriate time. And along with the realization of denuclearization, it's important to establish a long term and effective peace mechanism on the Korean Peninsula." The two diplomats agreed on the importance of the North Korea-U.S. summit next month in Singapore taking place.When asked about the Kim-Trump talks, Pompeo said that, despite the uncertainties,... he's hopeful that the summit will take place,... and that President Trump will be "absolutely prepared" for the meeting.
