Texas Firefighters and Police Team Up to Save Orphaned Ducklings Stuck in Storm Drain

Officers from Grapevine Police Department in Texas teamed up with local firefighters to save eight orphaned ducklings who found themselves stuck down a storm drain on April 8.The “fuzzy darlings” as Grapevine PD called them, were rescued after the death of their mother, who was “swept onto the roadway near SH-121 and I-635, where she was hit by a car.”A Facebook post from Grapevine PD adds, “Her ducklings fell through a large drainage grate on shoulder. A good samaritan [sic] called us for help. We guarded traffic and helped lift the grate while firefighters removed it and rescued all 8 ducklings.”Following the rescue, which was caught on camera by Texas-resident Nathan Stinson, the ducklings were placed in the care of Grapevine Animal Services.
