Heavy Rainfall Brings Severe Flooding to Streets of Maui

A flash flood warning was in effect for the Hawaiian island of Maui on Wednesday, December 20, as heavy rainfall battered the island.Authorities extended the flood watch to 5 pm, reporting rainfall rates of up to two inches per hour in the worst-affected areas. A Winter Storm Warning and a High Surf Advisory were also in place.Flooded conditions and localized landslides forced the closure of several roads around Maui.
