Remains of unidentified Germanwings victims buried in French Alps

An emotional ceremony has taken place in the French Alps for the families of victims of the Germanwings aircrash. The burial of remains that were not able to be identified has taken place, four months to the day since co-pilot Andreas Lubitz deliberately killed all 150 people on board. Francois Balique, the Mayor of Le Vernet, said: “The idea is to make this mountain a place of silence, a place of remembrance, where people can gather to pay their respects, where the families can come to remember their loved ones.” The ceremony comes amid controversy over how Lufthansa, the parent company of Germanwings, has dealt with the crash.
