Florida sisters shooting: siblings fatally shoot abusive brother while parents are away

Two underage sisters in Florida have been charged with premeditated murder after shooting dead their 16-year-old brother while their parents were away on Monday night.The sisters’ parents Keith Kornegay and Misty Kornegay left them at home in White Springs, Florida. The father is a truck driver and his wife accompanied him on a trip.The older sister, 15, said her 16-year old brother had beaten her up and locked her inside a bedroom while the parents were gone. After the brother fell asleep, the younger sister, 11, opened the room and freed the 15-year-old girl.The older sister then took a gun from her parents’ room and fired shots at her brother, who was later found dead in the living room by police.The sisters then walked 3.6 miles to a Dollar General store, where the younger sister called a friend whose mother alerted the authorities. The girl’s three-year-old sister was left at home while the pair were away. The parents have since been arrested for child neglect.The younger girl did not pull the trigger but assisted with the murder in some way. During questioning, the older sister remained stoic at first and applied makeup, but later broke down in tears. Documents show that the girl was molested by an uncle and the siblings also had sex in 2011. The girl has also been maltreated at home, as her parents often locked her up for misbehavior.
