Kansas City highway shooting spree: suspected sniper arrested

A man was arrested on Thursday, April 17, in association with a series of random highway shootings in the Kansas City, Missouri area.Authorities have connected 12 highway shootings in Kansas City, Blue Springs, Lee's Summit and Leawood, many of which occurred near highway entrance and exit ramps, according to The Kansas City Star.The shootings started on March 8. Three people have been injured by stray bullets since then. All of them were reported to have sustained non-life threatening injuries, CNN reported.One of the victims, Chris Shurmantine, told local news he was driving along Interstate 70 when his driver's side window suddenly shattered. He said he looked down and saw blood and noticed wounds in his leg and bullet holes in the car door.Another victim told ABC he was driving when someone wearing a ski mask shot at his car from another vehicle.In the latest incident, four people told police their vehicle's rear passenger window shattered after they heard two gunshots while at a stoplight in south Kansas City.Police surrounded the suspect's house and arrested the man on Thursday afternoon at around 5:40 p.m. No details have been released on the suspect since the investigation is underway, police said.Victims of the shooting expressed relief and gratitude at the news an arrest had been made, the Kansas City Star reported.----------------------------------------­---------------------Welcome to TomoNews, where we animate the most entertaining news on the internets.
